  • Sheppard AFB Funding In National Defense Bill

    Wichita Falls, Texas - Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) today announced that the House Armed Services Committee has approved a defense authorization bill that includes funding for Sheppard Air Force Base. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009 (H.R. 5658) was approved by the Armed Services Committee on a unanimous 61 to 0 vote after a day-long hearing that ended after 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning. The bill authorizes spending totaling $531.4 billion for the Department of Defense and the national security programs of the Department of Energy. Read more

    Amarillo, Texas - Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) today announced that the House Armed Services Committee has approved a defense authorization bill that includes funding for Pantex and Bell Helicopter purchases. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009 (H.R. 5658) was approved by the Armed Services Committee on a unanimous 61 to 0 vote after a day-long hearing that ended after 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.     Normally I wouldn’t quote CBS News, but with oil closing at over $119.00 per barrel it is worth noting a recent CBS report on gas prices. How fast are gas prices rising? Well, according to CBS they’ve now nearly doubled in just over three years. A lot of folks in our part of Texas have been asking what Congress is going to do about high gas prices.
