Five students from Bonham Middle School competed this weekend in the Department of Energy’s 2015 National Science Bowl in Washington, DC after winning the Pantex Regional Middle School Science Bowl in February.

U.S Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) said, "Our area has such talented, smart students who are excelling at the national level. Their success reflects the importance that families and teachers have in these young people's lives, while their curiosity and motivation provides much hope for the future of our country."

The team includes Makayla Beebe, Megan Bassinger, Jessica Liu, Treyce Money, and Josiah Miller. They are coached by Kimberly Irving, a 7th grade science teacher.

Their team is one of 48 middle school teams from across the country that advanced to the national competition.
