WASHINGTON- Today, the House voted on another messaging bill, this time on climate change. U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) released the following statement:
“This week has been another wasted week on the House Floor – more about politics than substance. The bill purports to prevent the President from withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, which the U.S. never ratified.
“The United States has steadily been lowering our emissions, but China is exempt from the agreement until 2030 and emits more CO2 than the U.S. and the E.U. combined.
“No serious problem can be solved with another Democrat messaging bill. We need to have serious, solution-driven discussions instead of debating a series of messaging bills that go nowhere and do nothing.”
